There haven’t been too many people that have fascinated the nation as much as OJ Simpson. Did he murder Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman in 1994?
Last night an old interview from 2006 aired on FOX. I’ve gotten several e-mails today from folks asking my opinion on the situation. Here’s what I saw and heard.
Note: I don’t have video clips just yet. If you missed it just search online to watch.
At first the show gives a brief history of the case. It shows that OJ was acquitted—at which point we see OJ roll his eyes in disbelief. Whenever people roll their eyes up this way , they don’t believe what happened. So he doesn’t even believe he was found innocent of murder!
Through the interview he laughs any time the topic of domestic violence comes up. Being accused in this way is no laughing matter. But he thinks is fun and is minimizing it.
He shows anger that she was a terrific mom and left him without enough attention. Often in domestic violence cases it’s common to see the accused have a sense of ownership over the victim. So this emotion is very typical.
It’s common to see the accused (or convicted) show a sense of being treated unfairly. Like somehow they’re the victim. OJ says after having the police show up to his house 7 times for domestic violence calls, ‘Somehow I came out of this called an abuser’ and can’t quite figure out why.
Now is where the real fun starts.
He ‘fabricates’ a ‘hypothetical situation’ with an imaginary friend Charlie to ‘make up’ what they would have experienced the night of Nicole and Ron’s murder at her house. Note: The imaginary friend is unusual in interrogations but having the accused make up a hypothetical situation of what would have happened is not. It’s often the truth!
He laughs several times at this being hypothetical. Then can’t keep his tenses straight switching to using phrases like ‘I saw’, ‘I felt’ and ‘I remember’ . Lies aren’t connected to emotions or timelines so these statements would never be made if he wasn’t recounting the truth. This is him flat out confessing to the crime. Then after all of this he suddenly can’t remember taking off the glove found at the scene. Criminals generally can’t remember anything. Hmmm.
When he’s asked about the cut on his finger he says ‘This is the truth. I slammed sown a glass in the hotel bathroom and it broke’. Whenever anyone tells you ‘this is the truth’ the next thing that comes out of their mouth is a lie. They’re trying to convince you of something. Don’t ever believe it.
I want to keep this short for now. But be sure to watch and you’ll hear and see all this and more.
