Everyone has been asking me about the Amber Herd/Johnny Depp defamation trial. What’s their body language say? Who’s lying? As of this writing the trial has been going on for 18 days. And it’s filled with lots of unsavory information. Lots of people are getting in touch telling me her testimony is giving them a funny feeling
I found a clip that may give some insights. Give this a look:
Ok here’s what I noticed.
First. She doesn’t initially start with the word ‘it’ She has to edit on her 2nd try to get add that word. Often when people take pronouns out when recounting events there’s deception involved. This becomes a really big deal when she later says ‘slapped me’. She doesn’t say He slapped me. Law enforcement calls this a disappearing perpetrator. Big red flag.
At this moment she also doesn’t use any illustrators to show us the slap. She becomes very still. That’s quite unusual for someone who has been talking with their hands in earlier testimony. Honest people will have lots of illustrators and talking with their hands in action sequences like what she’s describing.
Often when people recall a traumatic incident they’ll go internal and their eyes will lose focus. Here she makes sure she talks to every member of the jury. Hmmm.
And here’s another big thing. Her grammatic tense shifts quite frequently in this clip. And it shifts even more frequently in the following testimony. Tense shift can be a sign of deception OR it can be a sign of trauma.
If we want to dive a little deeper, she has lots of focus at the beginning of this segment of testimony on the jar of cocaine. It’s not relevant and I believe she’s adding this as a shock factor and to distract from the actual events.
The funny feeling you get about this testimony can be a combination of the above indicators. Or it could be because there’s no grief shown in her forehead. Could this be because of botox? Yep. Could it be because she’s being deceptive? Yep.
There sure are lots of factors here. There’s a high likelihood if deception in my option.
