The news happens fast! The shooting at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner happened after I’d already had this newsletter written for you.
There’s some interesting behavior that I noticed in the crowd. I think it’s reflective of how society has changed over the last few years. You can take a look and get my analysis here.
The big thing everyone was asking me about this month was Melania Trump’s statement about her involvement with Epstein. I’m gonna break it down for you here.
But if you’re tired of the whole Epstein thing, maybe a little down about the state of the world and just need a big laugh, don’t worry, I’ve got ya covered. Just scroll down past the first story and you’ll get the laugh you need.
Here we go!
First Lady Melania Trump decided now was a good time to give a statement about her non-involvement with Epstein. Was she telling the truth? Watch this.
Here’s what I notice
- I don’t believe she wrote the speech. And if she did, it wasn’t practiced. And it certainly wasn’t practiced with a native English speaker. She mispronounces words that are very important to her message: trivial, calculating, unfounded, convicted.
And her timing is off in a few places.
- When she says ‘devoid of ethical standards’ she puts her elbows out. This makes her bigger and more threatening.
- She mostly looks down as she’s reading. But looks up on certain words. That’s to emphasize her point.
- Her voice doesn’t carry any emotion. There’s no urgency. She’s not trying to convince us of anything. She just wants this to be on record. This is baseline for her so there’s no big changes here. Also, she’s from Eastern Europe where showing emotion is not the thing to do so she’s not going into this situation as an American typically would.
- Her face doesn’t show any emotion- happiness, anger or stress. This is likely because of botox. She looks fantastic. That’s the look botox gives you. It freezes the muscles on your forehead. But it betrays you because you actually can’t show emotion. And in times that backfires in the court of public opinion.
- She says her email with Maxwell ‘Doesn’t amount to anything more than a trival (that’s trivial mispronounced) note’. Here’s why that statement is important. Your unconscious mind can’t process a negative. So whenever you hear a sentence phrased in the negative, you know that’s exactly what’s on their mind…the exact thing they’re trying to deny. In this case, what’s on her mind is ‘more than a trivial note.’ Likely she didn’t write the speech but she went along with it. She’s telling on herself about her connection with Gislane.
- I do believe she’s telling the truth about how she and Donald met. It matches a story they told to Larry King years ago on his show.
- One of the things that’s impressive is her blink rate. It’s the most telling indicator of stress. You can’t consciously change it. And hers doesn’t fluctuate at all. There’s no emotional connection to what’s coming out of her mouth. Zero. I’ve never seen that before from anyone in any kind of high stakes situation.
- In any kind of high stakes situation like this, always ask yourself, ‘Why now?’ My best guess is that she’s trying to get ahead of more info being released.
Nobody is fooled about the Epstein situation, who was involved and what happened. It’s gonna keep coming out for years. Moving forward, we are jut gonna have to fall back on what my 8th grade US History teacher, who was also a football coach would say in his big, booming voice, “ You run with the dogs, you catch the fleas.”
And now for the biggest laugh you’ll have today
I laughed for 20 minutes about this one.
Here’s what makes this so funny.
As if a pony playing a piano in a hospital isn’t a big enough shock, the mismatch of the energy between the pony, the music and the people, especially the kid gives it that extra laugh. That pony is playing the snot out of that piano. And people are acting like nothing is wrong. The kid isn’t entertained at all.
Can you imagine in 10 or 15 years when the kid is in college? “For real.. there was this pony playing the piano as I got a cast on my arm…” Who’s gonna believe that?
And is that pony available to book for pap smears? I’m in.
In high-stakes sales, negotiations, safety, and ethics, deception increases when pressure is high. Leaders who use behavioral intelligence – body language and forensic linguistics – can uncover what’s really being communicated across conversations, calls, and emails. That insight sharpens decisions, reduces risk, prevents costly mistakes, and ensures ethical outcomes—so you can act on what’s real, not just what’s said.
