I talk a lot about lies here. They’re fascinating. But this time I think I’ve found some truth and it’s way more strange than a lie could be.
George Clooney and his wife Amal did an interview on the CBS morning show where he said ‘We’ve never had a fight’. That sounds ridiculous. What couple has never had a fight? So I looked more closely and analyzed their body language.
Here’s the video:
Here’s what I notice.
Their legs are crossed towards each other. We generally have the least control over our feet and they usually tell where someone’s attention is going. So they’re focused on each other.
He’s leaning on his chin. Which could signify he’s a little impatient but in this case I think he’s just smitten with her. He’s looking her in the eye at close range which is really hard to do if you’re a couple with troubles.
As he says ‘Easy’ he’s doing some mouth blocking. Soo there’s something he’s holding back.
She’s somewhat less comfortable looking down a bit, likely she’s a bit embarrassed as she agrees with him.
When Gail questions him about arguing, he does some self soothing for stress relief by picking his fingers and both start moving their feet. They’re both just a little nervous around the topic.
If deception is involved, it’s pretty difficult to get tow people who are so congruent not only with the topic but with each other. Still, there’s something they’re not revealing. I’d say that their definition of argument may be different than other folks. But it’s highly likely they haven’t had a knock down, drag out brawl. So it’s true that the truth is stranger than fiction.
